There what we call affiliate programs and there PTC site.The affiliate programs is to promote some (advertisements = ads ) for some products or site and have a percent from the advertiser when someone clicks on the ads.This system is called CPM.The 1st system in this way was GOOGLE ADSENSE which allow you if you have a site or a blog to promote google ads and take a revenue and you can read more here.
The PTC sites offer you a free subscription and you have to surf some links and earn money per each link you surf.
